Boro 3 Dorking Wanderers 2

Boro maintained their unbelievable response to the FA cup exit with a third successive win in 8 days on a wind and rain swept Monday evening before a boisterous crowd of 250 . Having performed superbly at Lewes the previous Saturday an expectant crowd arrived to witness what all the fuss was about with the league leaders Dorking ! Well they were mightily impressed as the Boro were totally outplayed in the opening 30 minutes by a rampant Dorking who moved the ball around with superb effect . It looked as though the fixture pile up had finally caught up with Boro as Dorking raced into a two goal lead within 22 minutes . Boro slowly thereafter began to make some inroads as they kept hold of the ball well and started to impose their own style on the visitors. Without troubling keeper Huk Boro began to create some chances and Kirby headed narrowly wide from a corner. On 45 minutes Boro pulled a goal back after an excellent strike by Coby Rowe ( Pictured ) was well saved by Huk however Joe Staunton was on hand to seemingly stroke the ball into the empty net when somehow he was thwarted by an astonishing reactionary save by Huk who was however helpless when the ball rebounded to Staunton who made no mistake at the second time of asking .

With their tails up Boro increased the pace in the second half and mounted a sustained assault upon the Dorking goal . Ademiluyi and Akinwande began to use their pace to good effect and it appeared certain that an equalising goal was coming. However Dorking held firm and had Pajetat not produced an outstanding save a third goal would clearly have given the points to the visitors. In fact shortly thereafter the ball was in the Boro net although rightly disallowed for offside. On 78 minutes a Barker free kick was powerfully headed home by Rowe who by now was displaying all of his admiral skills. Not simply a centre half this young man !! The home crowd were delirious and baying for a winner and again Rowe duly obliged with a thunderous header for a Barker corner . What a turnaround, Dorking were shell shocked and Boro held firm in the closing few minutes. On another day Dorking would have been handsome winners however full credit to the Boro character and superb response proving to any doubters the they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season. A fantastic advert for the league and all those who attended . A fitting end to a glorious game . Next up AFC Hornchurch on Saturday 3.00pm ko
