Haringey Borough 1 – 2 Potter Bar Town

Boro played hosts to Potters Bar who had beaten them some 7 weeks earlier and came to Coles Park on a very good run which had propelled them into the play off places and above Boro on goal difference. Boro started brightly with Ademiluyi causing untold problems for the Potters Bar back line however it was against the run of play when Potters Bar scored from their first foray upfield. A well worked corner was smashed home giving keeper Byfield no chance. The equaliser came courtesy of Michael O’donoghue when he perfectly placed a left foot free kick into the bottom corner. 1-1 at half time with all to play for in the second half. Boro again started well and showing more urgency seemed to be getting on top when Potters Bar scored again. This time from the spot when O’donoghue was adjudged to have impeded the Potters Bar player at a free kick. The penalty was despatched with aplomb and once again as in the first game Potters Bar led 2-1 from the spot and there was alas to be no more scoring despite boro being given a penalty of their own and a lifeline with 15 minutes remaining. Asamoah stepped forward and wrong footed the keeper however he also missed the far post. Another disappointing defeat leaving Boro with a lot to do in the remaining games if the promotion dream is to be achieved.
