Boro1 Horsham 2

A great advert for non league football as both sides showed what attacking prowess they have and what a threat both will be this season to the top sides . Horsham keen to avenge the previous week defeat to Boro in the Buildbase FA Trophy started the strongest and took an early lead as on 9 minutes O’toole beat the offside trap and the onrushing Pajetat to cooly slot home. Moments later it should have been two as O’toole once again found himself clean through on goal. This time however Pajetat was equal to the task and as he saved the shot and the ball swirled in the air Smith seemed certain to score but somehow was thwarted by Alexandrou’s acrobatics and the ball struck the bar and was cleared . This lucky escape seemed to galvanise Boro and on 31 minutes Aresti broke through from central midfield ,beat several Horsham players and struck the ball home from the edge of the area with his left foot. Just a few minutes later Aresti almost did it again, this time bursting through and having slotted past Bentley in the Horsham goal he just fired past the far post. Onokwai and Akinola both missed presentable chances and both teams went in at 1-1 at Halftime. Horsham came out fighting in the second half and Pajetat had to be at his best to prevent Smith from putting Horsham in front and a couple of minutes later excelled as Smith once again saw his effort well saved . Horsham continued to press but could not take the chances they carved out. Boro manager Loizou put on forwards McDonald ,Solomou and Froxylias in an attempt to win the game and his gamble almost paid off as Boro created  chances in quick succession right at the end. First Akinola should have scored when Bentley inadvertently passed straight to him 8 yards out but his powerful shot struck Bentley in the chest and went away to safety. From the resulting corner Alexandrou mis headed when right in front of an empty net . More woe for Boro was to come after an excellent  through ball from Aresti found Mcdonald who’s clever  back kick deceived Bentley and as the  ball rolled towards the empty net somehow Merchant slid and cleared off the goal line. That proved to be a pivotal moment as seconds later Horsham were awarded a free kick on the left which Pamment took and the ball evaded everyone and nestled into the far corner to give Horsham all  points.
