Match Report: 2nd Rd Qualifying Emirates FA Cup Boro 5 Staines Town 0

Boro progressed to the 3rd qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup with a hard fought and ultimately convincing win over a young but inexperienced Staines side. Rocked with the news midweek of the suspension of their manager Staines arrived with their youth team coach in charge and facing an uphill battle. The opening exchanges  were even and the young Staines boys played with a lot of heart and desire . They withheld the pressure of the Boro forwards and defended stoutly until their resistance was broken on 36 mins by a Richards header from a Froxylias  corner . 1-0 halftime and the game was very much in the balance until the second Boro goal on 70 minutes courtesy of a Froxylias penalty after sub Akinola was floored in the area. 5 mins later and another penalty when the impressive Aresti ( pictured )was fouled by the on rushing Dixon the Staines goal keeper . Onokwai easily despatched the spot kick and within another 3 minutes Onokwai the Boro sub had scored his second and Boro’s 4th walking the ball around Dixon when put clean through. The game was over by this stage and Onokwai completed his hat trick on 86 minutes when a mix up in the Staines 6 yard box gave him a tap in .  Next Saturday Boro are away to Bognor Regis as they return to league action .
