Boro 3 Herne Bay 0

Boro successfully found a way past a resolute and skilful Herne Bay side to book their passage into Monday’s second qualifying round draw of the Emirates FA Cup . After  a very difficult opening when Herne Bay showed that they had not come to simply make up the numbers Boro were grateful to the alert Pajetat in goal  for keeping the Boro goal intact . Boro grew into the game and Froxylias came close when putting over the bar after a swift move by the Boro. The most likely looking way Boro were going to score was from a set piece and after Kamurasi plucked a couple of corners out of the air he was helpless when Stone ( pictured ) rose to meet Demetri’s pin point cross on the stroke of half time to give Boro and undeserved lead. The second half was more like the Boro when wave after wave of attack was met with some frantic defending and quality goalkeeping . Solomou wondered how he had not got onto the scoresheet after he was twice clean through with Kamurasi to beat and on both occasions the keeper got the better of him . When left back Demetri struck the foot of the post it seemed as though Boro may have to sweat see the game out however an unenforced error by a Herne Bay defender ,who sought a backpass to the keeper but simply found the feet of Aresti who capped a fine performance with a well taken finish ,ended the resiliance  of the Herne Bay side  Thereafter Boro took total control as the game was stretched and after McDonald had scored from a tight angle there was still time for sub Onokwai to somehow hit the bar whilst standing under it !!. No harm done as Boro saw the game out and now look forward to the next round .
