Boro v Yeovil Town Emirates FA Cup 4th qualifying round MATCH ABANDONED

It is very much with regret that we have to report that Boro’s home match this afternoon Saturday 19 October was abandoned in the second half due to unacceptable behaviour from a small minority of Yeovil Town fans with an assault upon keeper Pajetat after the award of a penalty to Yeovil . Pajetat was spat at and bottles thrown at him and abused prior to the spot kick being taken. After a short break, as efforts were being made to remove the offenders ,Murphy scored from the spot for Yeovil and at this stage more racist chants were heard and in particular Coby Rowe was the victim of a direct racist comment . After discussion on the pitch manager Tom Loizou led the players off the field of play and a formal announcement of abandonment was made soon thereafter . A police investigation has commenced and along with an FA investigation to follow the Club do not propose to make any further comment at this stage. Suffice to say the we at Haringey Borough deplore all forms of racism, discrimination  and violent conduct and will assist all parties in trying to identify the culprits and bring them to justice, we also feel it important to credit the players, management and officials of Yeovil Town FC for their display of solidarity and their support for our Club. The vast  majority of away fans were impeccably behaved and a credit to their club and it is very sad that the small minority involved today have tarnished the name of the Club in this way .
