Boro maintained their 100% start to the new season with a hardworking and resilient performance against a very tough Cheshunt side who themselves were full of confidence after their 2-0 home win the previous Tuesday against Potters Bar . Boro were forced to abandon their free flowing attacking prowess in favour of a much more measured and restrained performance and Tom Loizou ( pictured ) was no doubt pleased to see the boys adapt to the instructions given pre match . Certainly not one for the purist nevertheless 3 points garnered and clear top of the table as the only side to maintain maximum points in the division . Early days of course but rather be in this position than not . Boro are no longer a surprise package and now teams are actively preparing to stifle the boys and it is a credit to the team that they are capable of changing the style of play to suit. An early chance on Saturday to the ever impressive Onokwai as Mcdonald set him up from the right wing only for Onokwai’s well hit effort to just allude the goal. Cheshunt too had their moments in the first half as first Collins shot wide and then Halett came close from short distance. 0-0 Halftime .
Cheshunt had the first opportunity of the second half as Collins forced a fine save from Pajetet. Boro then took the lead as a Cheshunt corner was cleared to Richards who found Onokwai down the right . The powerful forward sprinted half the length of the pitch and burst into the area and finished in style giving Girling in the Cheshunt goal no chance . Cheshunt pushed thereafter for an equaliser and had a couple of near misses and on one such occasion when Pajetat was beaten Kisitu was well placed to clear off the line. Boro held on and now await the visit of Brightlingsea Regent on Saturday 24 August . Free season tickets are still available.
